Will McIntosh began his love affair with all things monstrous when he saw King Kong playing in a store while out running errands with his grandfather. Will told his grandfather they had to go home immediately so he could watch the rest of the movie.

As a teenager, Will sold comic books at a local flea market and watched as many cheesy science fiction movies as he could. It’s fair to say he didn’t exactly love school—sitting still and listening is not one of his strengths—which may explain why he wrote a book about a strange school where the kids are told exactly what to say and where one of the classmates is a terrifying creature. Despite his early dislike for it, Will went on to spend years and years in school, earning a doctorate in psychology before becoming a college professor. He took up writing as a hobby in the evenings and somehow ended up working as a full-time writer.

He now lives in Williamsburg, Virginia, with his wife, their middle-school-aged twins who have way more energy than he does, and a labradoodle named Juju.
