What Happens If the Gravity Field Shifts?

Did you know gravity isn’t as stable as we think?

A gravity hole has been discovered in the Indian Ocean—a place where Earth’s pull is weaker.

Evidence of a mysterious 2-year shift in Earth’s gravity field took place deep underneath the Atlantic Ocean.

And scientists have done the math—the moon is moving away from us about 3.8 centimeters a year. This change in gravitational pull, over a long period of time, affects the length of an Earth day.

So, if gravity can waver in our own world, can you imagine what would happen if a magical force twisted it further?

In Moon Shadow, this question becomes terrifyingly real. The moon, once a man who walked the land, is now back in the sky and using his gravity to tear the world apart. Roof shingles and mountain rocks are the first things to rise and crash back to the ground. As his power grows stronger, his red shadow threatens to satisfy his hunger with not just mere objects, but with people.

Malcolm’s kingdom calls this crisis The Lift. Ilis’s calls it The Night Thief.

Too bad these gravitational incidents aren’t just weaker pulls of gravity in the ocean or shifts happening deep underground. And sadly, it’s not a case of the moon getting further away. The moon is, in fact, getting closer. Much closer.

And as the moon gets closer, its hunger grows.

Like scientists, it’s up to Queen Ilis of The Under and Prince Malcolm of The Upper to calculate and stop the moon’s thefts before it destroys everything.

Time to step out of their uncomfortable, royal shoes and become thieves again.

Thieves against thief. The game is on.

Moon Shadow by Rachel Shinnick comes out on December 5th! Get ready for a story that is meant to pull you up and drop you into a world where gravity may just disappear altogether.
